What does anti-snag mean?

Most of sleeping bag with zipper, when you close or open a sleeping bag, the fabric of sleeping bag may come into the zipper slider and stop zipper to go.

Why it occurs?

It caused by different reasons.

First, zipper problem. If the zipper quality is not good, mostly because the space between zipper slider and zipper tooth is too small or too big, the fabric will come into the space between zipper slider and zipper tooth. If the zipper size is not match the sleeping bag zipper, it may cause snag too.

Second, sleeping bag construction. If the sleeping bag is not design properly, it will cause zipper snag too.

Third, Material used for sleeping bag. Some material is soft, some material is hard, some material is smooth, some material is crude, some material has good touch feel, some of them is good to keep warm, but may cause zipper snag.

Forth, Workmanship, good or bad workmanship is very important too.

How to avoid zipper snag?

There are some different ways to prevent zipper snag for sleeping bag. First of all, please make a sample with complete same material, same construction to mass products, make test of zipper close and zipper open frequently. If the zipper is snag, you can choose one of below method.

Before we talk about different ways, let’s study the sleeping bag construction related to zipper, for easy understand.

Method A, prepare one or two webbing with width around 2-2.5cm, sew one edge of webbing along zipper inside the sleeping bag and have another edge free. You can decide sew to top panel or bottom panel or both of them according to the above test.

Method B, prepare one or two webbing with width around 2-2.5cm, wider webbing is better. Sew one edge of webbing along zipper inside the sleeping bag and sew another edge to sleeping bag itself. You can decide sew to top panel or bottom panel or both of them according to the above test.

Method C, prepare one or two webbing with width around 2-2.5cm, wider webbing is better. Put webbing underneath the lining of sleeping bag, then sew 2-3 lines at surface of lining to fix the lining to the webbing. Of cause, you can also decide sew to top panel or bottom panel or both of them according to the above test.
